EDESUR Dominicana is one of the state electrical distribution companies, accredited for energy distribution and commercialization in geographical areas starting west from Máximo Gómez Avenue in the Distrito Nacional to the Elías Piña province in the frontier. This includes the municipality of Santo Domingo Oeste and the provinces of San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, Elías Piña, Bahoruco, Independencia, Barahona, Pedernales and Peravia.
Its origins date 1999, with the 464-98 decree that authorized the Dominican Electricity Corporation to contribute assets of their ownership for the paid capital integration of five new companies constituted under the disposition of the Public Companies Reform General Law, being one of these the Electrical Distribution Company for the South, alongside the Electrical Distribution Company for the North, the Electrical Distribution Company for the East, and the Electrical Generating Companies HAINA and ITABO.
Its mission is to distribute and commercialize electrical energy throughout its conceded area, committed to quality, continuously improving processes and guaranteeing financial returns, its customers satisfaction, and contributing to the country’s sustainable development.
